Description

Released in April 2021, the Lion Trapper SP has hardly anything to do with the Trapper or Trapper Pro.
The studs of the Trapper SP are extremely thin. They are considerably thinner than those of the Dornenglanz.
Amazingly, the studs are still quite long. By our measurement, the studs are only 0.05mm shorter than most other long studs.
As a result, the pimples buckle faster during active play than any other long pimple rubber. In passive play, however, the Trapper SP plays no different than rubbers with wider studs.
The stud heads are grooved and very grippy. The rubber compound of the Trapper SP is medium hard and elastic.
The Trapper SP is also quite slow, not as slow as the Lion Claw, but at least as slow as the SpinLord Stachelfeuer.
The Trapper SP seems to us best suited for the modern backspin defense with frequent active disruptive hits.
It can generate a high disruptive effect in the backspin defense and the balls come very flat. It is also very controlled and easy to play.
Block balls, on the other hand, are not the Trapper SP's forte. Although the Trapper SP is more controlled in the block game than one might think due to the thin studs.
Offensive strikes and counterballs, on the other hand, are surprisingly playable and also very dangerous, provided they are played very actively and aggressively to bend the studs.
With underlayment, the Trapper SP is definitely one of the best long pimples available for players who primarily play backspin defense.
